Capacity Building & Special Initiatives

The Summer Fund is uniquely positioned to influence the field and better support our grantees by serving as a convener, leveraging strategic partnerships and creating linkages to other major summer initiatives. Our goal is to leverage our assets to effectively and efficiently build, strengthen and sustain a high-quality summer program network.

We believe that capacity building is vitally important and supports our grantees in reaching the next level of operational, programmatic, financial, and organizational maturity. Summer Fund capacity building initiatives provide resources, trainings and workshop to enrich and improve the field, through educational and professional development opportunities, and by leveraging the collective expertise of the Summer Fund network. Our initiatives  are designed to respond to current trends and needs that emerge in the summer program field.

Our Impact

Shelter life is difficult for children, especially during the summer when school is out. At camp, this 9-year-old boy played tennis, swam, and made friends with other children his own age. We are grateful we could offer him a fun and stimulating opportunity to spend time outside of the shelter this summer.
