Teen Leadership Institute

Started in 2013 by the Boston Private Industry Council, the Summer Fund, and Hale Reservation, and generously supported by Bank of America, the Teen Leadership Institute provides students with tools and training to help them achieve success in a summer camp counselor job, and beyond. In the Spring of 2017, 150 students from 30 Boston public high schools participated in a full-day of training at Hale Reservation.

Summer Fund Fact

We direct resources to high-quality summer camps and programs that serve underserved, at-risk children and youth ages 5-18, from low to moderate income households in Boston, Cambridge, Chelsea, and Somerville.

Our Impact

The Homeless Campership Fund greatly impacts the lives of the children and families we serve. Attending camp provides the children with an opportunity to participate in a safe, educational, and fun experience that allows them to enjoy being children, free from the worries that accompany living in a domestic shelter environment.

Camp Starfish has changed my son in ways I didn’t think were possible. Before this summer, he always seemed uncomfortable in his own skin and didn’t feel confident enough to make friends. But now the fragile and self-secluded boy I raised is gone. The unique program you offer for kids with challenges is amazing.
